Where can I find a list of real Native American Indian Names...not babynames?
I need a list of real names and their meanings or history of origin.

I am Cherokee,
The book I have is called.."YOUR NAME in tsalagi"...or "YOUR NAME in Cherokee"...
by PrenticeRobinson...he is Cherokee and teaches the Cherokee language.
This book gives regular names...for instance,
my name is Marsha...which in Cherokee is: MASYA, this book covers all the regular names...but gives the Cherokee way of saying and spelling each name.

Reply:I like all of them. One thing to consider is that if you give a child a unique name or a "common" name with a unique spelling, that child will have a lot of people mess up her name. Then again, if the name is unique, the child will be seen as unique too!

Reply:hah, i picked out baby names just because i like to plan and i like to have names picked out so i can feel connected already to future children i might have and show that i put so much thought into their names that they were thought of before they were born. So i know how you feel, i dotn necesarily do it out of boredom but i come up with some alot lol

I dont understand why your nicknames have nothing to do with the name that you are going to call the baby? If you have Charles you can call him Charlie which is cute.

I just remember being in class and having a Nicole A, Nicole B and Nicole C and then a Ashley D, Ashley K. and so on but its also a middle name so it wont be heard but the first name is very cute and unique, stick with it. : )
