According to babynames.com, these are the top 100 most popular names for boys and girls, 100 for each gender.

What ones are you surprised to see? For me, it's:

Boys:

15. Gavin-I never thought Gavin was that popular for baby boys. Popular, yes, #15 popular? No.

28. Jayden-I thought it would be more high up. Since Aidan is #1, Kaden is #4 and Brayden is #6.

38. Dominic-I'm a little dissapointed to see Dominic get so popular, since I really like that name, but I like a little less common names.

46. Grayson-I only heard this name once on Y!A.

47. Asher-I only heard this name once on Y!A and I have yet to meet an Asher in real life.

53. Sebastian-Just last year when I was on an older Y!A account, most of the response to this lovely, masculine name was "Ew, creepy and horrible". Could Seb be a new "in" name?

55. Micah-With the trend of boyish names on girls, I thought we would start considering this name "cute" and "girly", too. Maybe not. (yay!)

60. Damian-This name doesn't seem to go with the other trendy top 100 names, but maybe I'm wrong.

63. Xavier-I'm surprised, I love this name, but I would think many others would find it too old-fashioned.

68. Fynn-I'm surprised, because it's not a trendy name and I don't hear it used for babies too much.

82. Bryce-seems outdated to me. I can only see this on a 40-something dad, but I could be wrong.

Girls:

9. Chloe-I thought Chloe was uncommon, but I must be wrong.

21. Emily-Emily was in the top 10 or so last year.

22. Madison-Is Madison finally falling from it's glory?

27. Peyton-WOW, I never thought Peyton would get so popular.

31. Sadie-Again, never expected Sadie to be such a popular name.

35. Scarlet-Seemed like an uncommon name, But I must be wrong.

39. Lucy-I thought most would find Lucy outdated.

41. Aaliyah-I always found this an exotic, rare name. But it must be quite common now.

60. Aurora-Lovely, lovely name. But it must be getting very popular.

77. Autumn-Gorgeous name. I am shocked it is this popular though.

94. Juliet-Again, lovely name. Just would not expect it in the top 100.

What do you think?

What do you think of the most popular baby names according to babynames.com?
the most popular boys names totally disappoints me, i am SO sick of the 'aden' names! People say that they're trying to be unique, but when everyone tries to be unique, its not unique anymore.

The girls names aren't bad though. I do like megan, sophia and abigail, but there's a few in there that i get pretty sick of.
Reply:i agree with the girl above me. i like uncommon names.
Reply:I dont look into it that far. I like uncommon names not popular ones.
Reply:I didn't think my kids' names were so popular , when i had picked them they were not even on the top 100 list !

Can't believe Sebastian is #53 , kind of sad that its becoming more popular... same with Lucy #34 I didn't think a lot of people would name a daughter this now because its so old fashioned and thats why i chose it !

My husband Micah was so surprised that his name with number 55 !

My other son Oliver is #20 I didn't know it was that high up already ! I'm glad though that Jude isn't in the top 100 yet though !

Henry is 57 and Levi is 87 those are so high I was considering them as names but maybe not anymore .... same with Amelia and Charlotte.

This is weird i didn't think there names were so popular i have not met another person with my kids' names. With such high popularity names i would expect to meet one every time i steped outside.

It's funny that they are so popular when i ask people what they think of my kids' names they always tell my they are horrible choices... eh, thats weird.
